The Hall Air Conditioning
The hall is the oldest building on the school campus that holds a very dear place in the hearts of both current and alumni students at Chatswood High School. For decades this building has been used for school gatherings, performances, exams and so much more. But there was always one thing missing that made the hall a challenge to use in the cold winter and hot summer months.
This week, with the P&C contributing a sizable amount for the work, air conditioning has been installed in the hall.
Our very own building conveyer Michael Goorevich remembers from his time as a student that as far back as 1988 plans were being made to install air conditioning in the hall.
According to P&C records, the first efforts of the P&C were back in 2017 where a feasibility study was conducted.
A total of eight 9.2kW cool / 10kW heat split-system air conditioning units were installed. Two units on 4 sides of the “hexagon” that make up this building. These units will provide both heating and cooling and thus benefit students all year round.
The old unfluted gas heaters and noisy wall fans have been removed from the hall.
